Consulting Services
The German BESS market is growing rapidly. The decisions made now — regarding design, procurement, and contract structure — will determine whether projects will still be profitable ten years from now. I provide consulting services in areas where technical expertise, market knowledge, and negotiation experience are all required — from investment due diligence to contract negotiations with international suppliers.
Market Entry and Positioning
Strategic Consulting
The European BESS market is fragmented from a regulatory standpoint, undergoing technological change, and not yet commercially consolidated. Anyone allocating capital today is not just deciding on a project — they are deciding on a market position.
I provide the foundation for these decisions—based on the European regulatory framework and direct experience from the US, the UK, and Australia — markets that are several years ahead of Germany when it comes to energy storage.

Technical Due Diligence
Investment decisions regarding BESS projects require an independent technical assessment — covering system design, contract structure, supplier risks, and long-term performance. I conduct technical due diligence for lenders and investors who need to know whether a project is bankable and will deliver on its promises.

Technical Design
A robust design doesn't start with the manufacturer's data sheet. It starts with the actual grid requirements, dispatch profiles, and regulatory framework of the specific location. I design BESS systems from the cell to the grid connection — power, capacity, degradation, control strategy — based on real-world parameters.

Procurement and Contract Negotiation
Bidding & Awarding of Contracts
Procurement processes for BESS projects are complex: multiple suppliers, inconsistent bids, and technical parameters that cannot be directly compared. The leading manufacturers are based in China — anyone who structures a request for proposals without understanding this supplier landscape loses negotiating leverage before negotiations even begin. I structure RFPs so that bids are comparable, minimum technical requirements are enforceable, and the process stands up to scrutiny later on.

Contract Negotiation
Supply and maintenance contracts for BESS systems involve risks that only become apparent years after the contract is signed — in warranty clauses, spare parts provisions, degradation curves, and augmentation provisions. I negotiate these contracts drawing on my direct experience with international projects and bring the technical, cultural, and linguistic expertise required for negotiations with Chinese manufacturers — on both sides of the table.

Construction Supervision
Owner's Engineering
The contract has been signed. The question now is whether what was negotiated will actually be built. Deviations in the scope of delivery and specifications, delays in the project schedule, and quality defects — these are the moments when commercial risks become tangible.
I ensure technical and commercial continuity from the signing of the contract through to commissioning. I bring in a specialized construction supervisor to be on-site during the structural work.
